To protect the outer copper layer from developing patina prematurely, the manufacturer coats it with protective lacquer. The lacquer layer needs to be removed before the first use of your cookware. If you prefer the lacquer to be removed by us, please select the 'non-lacquered' option at checkout.
Our hammered copper cookware is easy to maintain: cleaning with mild soap and warm water is recommended. Please avoid using steel wool or abrasive cleaners as they may rub away the inner tin layer. If the tin layer is scratched or damaged, the pot can be retinned - please call us to learn more.
The outer copper layer will develop a darker patina over time. The patina will not affect the functionality of your copper cookware; however, if you choose to remove it, we recommend using Barkeeper's Friend copper cleaning liquid, or a combination of one part lemon juice with three parts kosher salt to apply to the outer surface with a soft cloth, then rinse and dry immediately.
*Please note: our handcrafted copper cookware is not dishwasher safe.
