Portland General Store

Concoctions for the face and body from the rock-edged, working waterfront of Maine.

Portland General Store was founded by Lisa Brodar and Troy Tyler in 2007 as the first heritage, natural skincare line for the well made man and woman.

As a part of a discovery process into sustainable living, Lisa happened upon some vintage soap and perfume recipe books and a collection of antique, Czechoslovakian pharmacy bottles. These were her creative inspiration! Her experimentation began with creams and bath salts and led, eventually, to today's line of products, made from simple, natural ingredients using time-tested methods.

Portland General Store takes no shortcuts and does not use synthetic fragrance oils and chemical additives which are commonly found today. Our products and their packaging have an earnest quality which comes from their hand-crafted nature and the "authenticity" we seek in our lives and what we do.

All PGS products are made in America of the highest quality, vegan, and organic ingredients. Our colognes and perfumes, inspired by old-fashioned recipes, are made using only essential oils in an organic base of cane sugar alcohol. We are proud members of the Natural Perfumer's Guild, and support and donate a percentage of our profits to the Maine State Beekeepers Association  and the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association.
