The desk top showcases an eight-piece book matched Walnut swirl veneer. The desk top is single veneered with the same density veneer opposite the face to deter warping and/or cupping. Tiger Maple encompasses the elliptical desk top, capturing the trademark contrasting woods effect. True mastery is displayed by adding a 1-inch thick solid Walnut apron sections, each beveled 15 degrees from their outer edge. The apron sections embrace only the major axis of the elliptical top. Signature curved legs are attached to each of the four individual apron sections. Tiger Maple is cunningly exposed through the apron breaks and on the front and back sides of the desk. A drawer is camoflaged in the Tiger Maple front, detectable only by a hand-carved Walnut handle.
The writing desk comes with a Walnut chair. The chair back has a Walnut swirl veneer is from the same flitch as the veneer on the desk top. Solid Walnut legs are joined to the solid Walnut chair seat apron with mortise and tenon. The front leg curvature is identical to the desk leg curves. The leather chair seat is professionally upholstered.
