This fun cheese serving tray and knife set just might become a perfect conversation starter at your next party! The pewter cow figurine was cast in lead-free pewter and plated in nickel silver to create the unique patina. The cheese serving knife has a small cow head handle that adds whimsical charm.
To create each pewter figurine, the artist makes a polymer clay form and carves it to the desirable look. The form is then baked in the oven to harden, and a black rubber 'negative' mold is formed. The rubber mold is then filled with hot lead-free pewter in a centrifugal machine that spins while the pouring occurs. The resulting metal figurine is electro-plated to give it a silver-like or 24-K gold finish. The finish does not tarnish and gives the figurines a beautiful rich luster.
