The Stag Jar makes a convenient and attractive container to store salt or sugar. The top 'Stag' lid is handcrafted in clay, cast in lead-free pewter, and then plated in nickel silver color. A unique gift for a wedding or a housewarming party!
To create each piece, the artist makes a polymer clay form and carves it to the desirable look. The form is then baked in the oven to harden, and a black rubber 'negative' mold is formed. The rubber mold is then filled with hot lead-free pewter in a centrifugal machine that spins while the pouring occurs. The resulting metal figurine is electro-plated to give it a silver-like finish. The finish does not tarnish and gives the figurines a beautiful, rich luster.
